NHibernate 2.1.0 is released after two years one year of development! It’s great that project is going forward. We are using it since first public beta release, and got quite used to it. Hope, upgrading our code to this new release won’t cause big pain.
At the same time, project still suffers from bad information policy. There is “What’s new in this release?” document? There is no official one. Fabio suggests reading his blog, because there were a lot of posts about new things. That’s good, but not every one will go for it. This is an obstacle for users. API documentation is not released at all. It happens to be “too big” – 39 Mb in compiled CHM? Guys, common! Is it really a problem our days? Also obstacle. And ridiculous one.
First impression rules today. If project doesn’t look professional, if it is not clear how to use it – new user will just leave. There are plenty of ORM tools on .NET market, so only good first impression can force him to try exactly this one.
I believe that project is in a high need of volunteer designers, writers and promoters. Guys, help programmers to promote their great product!
P.S. BTW, we designed NH logo which you can see on the site. So volunteer designers happen. :)
Update
Some “what’s new” list could be found here.
Update 2
