XStream for .NET

«XOR's Post»

Headline

TSS.NET posted a link to Arne Vandamme's XStream for .NET. It’s simple object to XML serializer/deserializer made after the XStream (for Java). Declared ease for use, support for IDictionary (that standard XmlSerializer doesn’t) and very clean XML. It’s very nice, i just want to mention one thing: if Arne would take ObjectXPathNavigator to perform serialization (yes, it also supports IDictionary) and develop compatible deserializer, then the solution would be even more useful. Why? Because it will be modular and open-ended. I’m sure, people could find a use for flexible thing… If they will know about possibilities.

Actually it’s quite interesting – things ported from Java often receive much more attention than native .NET developments from approximately the same area. People that switching from Java to .NET remains accustomed to old tools. Naturally they are glad, when a tool catches them up. Native .NET people (for the most part) knows only things that Microsoft explained to them, so they are not looking around…

Anyway, well done, Arne. All this reflection is not about you. :)
